 Watching and waiting

Chaos had a plan, a big plan, and as much as it hurt his ego to admit it he knew he needed others to make it happen. He was always more brains than muscle even though he wasn't one to back down from a fight. He enjoyed being the one behind it all, the puppeteer behind the curtain controlling all his minions, and he believed he was the only one who had the "chops" to pull off anything of this size anyways. Of course if, or more precisely when, blood needed to be spilled he would be sure to be there. After all one of his advanced age needed to stay in good shape and what better way to stay in shape than skinning a few poor souls while they wiggled and begged for their pitiful lives. Then there was the perk of licking up the savory blood afterwards. That still warm liquid pouring down his thirsty gullot, well that thought was enough to give him a happy feeling all over. Yet he would have to be patient, after all good things come to those who wait, and recruit those he needed first.

If anyone else were to be watching they may feel pity for him as he limped along. That infernal birth defect of a paw was like a stone he had to carry around in more ways than one. He hated how others viewed him because of it. Chaos didnt want other's pity nor did he want to be thought of as weak. He was the future ruler of this land, the holder of everyone's fate, and he wasnt about to let that little freakish imperfection hold him back. He could still hold his own against all but the most seasoned of fighters and he was far superior mentally to anyone he met, well in his own mind anyways regardless of the truth.

Chaos limped his way as regally as he could towards the middle of the park. Casually he scanned the area as he took deep breaths in to his waiting nostrils so he could sort through the various scents around him. Many of these smells were stale or of no great interest to him. There was an over abundance of human presence along with the tame odor of even tamer dogs. There were a few feral dogs here that were sniffing at the garbage cans or chasing the pigeons. There wasnt much of a prospect here today, why settle for just any old mutt when if he was patient he could get the cream of the crop, so with a sigh he found himself a shady spot beneath a tree and plopped down. Out of habit he kept his back against the tree for an extra bit of a protection while he scanned back and forth. One didnt survive on the street by letting their guard down, life came at the cost of constant vigilance.

Anastasia wandered on her own through the streets, not really sure where she was going or where she was coming from. For now, she was just happy that she was able to go somewhere. Her previous situation had her stuffed in a crammed cage, and the stench from other dogs, both alive and dead, had filled her lungs. Here, though there was a slight smell from the acrid fumes of cars, it was clean. There was open sky above her, and she was able to run and be free. She paused in her walking to notice a large dog park across the street. There were several dogs running around on it, and she decided that it would be nice to go for a run. She used her long legs to run across the street in quick time, dodging traffic as she did so. When she neared close enough to the dark park, she took a running leap to jump the low chain-link fence.

She landed oddly gracefully on the other side, and paused before setting off at a lope towards a clearer section of the field, one that was free of any domestic dogs. It felt nice to stretch her muscles out in the open and to be worry-free of any sort of attempt at being caught. Most humans would assume that because she was here, she had a human watching her. It would be easy to do as she pleased. For now, she flopped down in the grass, and rolled onto her side, enjoying the sun.

She had one eye opened, and noticed another dog in particular that caught her interest. By scent she knew he was a male, but what mostly caught her attention was the slight limp he had. But also, that he didn't even seem to mind. He held his head, proud, as if saying, I dare you to question me. Anastasia couldn't help but to admire it. After all, true strength came from accepting one's self, before all others. She sat up, so that she was still lying down, but could now watch the male a little better. She tried to be discreet, and not make it obvious she had noticed him, but had a feeling he may catch on eventually.

Chaos continued to glance over the slowly growing crowd of well fed pooches and their furless moronic monsters that they relied on. He had to wonder if these disgraces to canine society might be of some use to him and his cause. If he could promise these pampered pups some protection, that is if and when they grew a spine and ventured out into the real world, they could supply him with some high quality kibble. How hard would it be to have one of his low level lackeys puppysit his supplier for a day or two? Well first he would have to find some lackeys of course but that was a side point and it was distracting him from his observations. The problem with the way his mind worked, the way his breed's worked really, was so man steps ahead that it was a bit of a challenge to stay on focus. He growled at himself, this was a crucial time and he needed to be on top of his game, and he made himself truly see the sight in front of him.

He sighed as he looked at the residents of the park once more. Maybe he just had high expectations of what kind of fellow canines he wanted to surround himself with. Sure he expected perfection in his future pack mates and desperation in his future victims, well perhaps customers was a better term, but all he saw here was blah, run of the mill, happy go lucky dogs. Chaos puffed out his chest and began to walk away, a place deeper in the city might be more lucrative, when he noticed a dog he hadn't noticed before.

The female, her size and the scent that wafted on the breeze proofed that much, was interesting for some reason. He grinned and made his way over to her casually, glancing back and forth as if she wasn't his final destination. Given the time of year, so close to spring, it might be assumed that he had more lustful things in mind but Chaos wasn't one to give into such primal urges. He would never admit it to anyone, after all his ego and his self esteem were very important to him, but he had never been with a female before. Truthfully he wasn't even sure he was interested in more than domination of all, not just a feminine figure. But he didn't mind playing the sympathetic one to get what he wanted, exposing the real him when it was too late.

Once he got close enough he gave a friendly grin and a small nod to the other.

"Greetings my dear. I couldn't help but notice your beauty from a far. I hope you aren't alone though, even in this place of peace you can find some distrustful curs." He said with a grin.

As Anastasia relaxed in the sunlight, she noticed that the male she had been looking at moments before was beginning to make his way in her general direction. She didn't take too much mind though, as it seemed that the male seemed to be just heading this way. He looked around casually, so she perhaps considered he was looking for a friend or something. She continued to bask in the gentel glow of the warm sun until she heard a voice, directed at her.

It was the male from before, and he offered her a friendly grin and a nod, which she returned. She smiled slightly sheepishly at the male's compliment, and couldn't help but to perk her ears towards him. Of course, the way to get a gal to pay attention was to compliment her. When his speech had finished, Anastasia smiled and replied, "You are too kind, sir. And yes, I'm afraid I am alone. I suppose I'll just have to rely on luck to make sure I don't come across any of those fellows." She stood, feeling that it should be more appropriate for her to do so and continued, "I'm Anastasia. Who might you be?"

So luck indeed was on some pup's side but he wasn't sure if it was good or bad luck. For that matter he wasn't sure who's side it was on either. There were so many options open to one with the mind like Chaos. He could try to lure her away from prying eyes and have his way with her. But again such carnal needs weren't his style. After all other pups would pay top biscuit for a female who was still pure, assuming of course that she was, though the sly border collie could always spin some sort of lie to cover up such a thing. Most dogs couldn't tell the difference anyways as long as they got somewhere. He could be a smooth talker when he wanted to be and he believed most of his kind were too dumb to know truth from lies even if it bit them on the tail end.

Then, just as he was about to find away to coerce her away from this place, perhaps using some sob story about hungry puppies or some other such rubbish that females seemed to fall for, another idea struck him. Why couldn't she have other uses? Sure she seemed sweet enough but perhaps it was all a front like his was. Sometimes there was more to a canine then their fur, you had to dig deep to the sweet sticky center to get to their heart and soul, and he hated the idea of wasting a good business partner on being a tramp. He would have to tread lightly, if she did have a brain in the lovely head of her's she might just figure him out. Things would be touch and go but Chaos had faith in himself and an ego to squash any self-doubt that may spring up.

"Ah a name suitable for an angel." he said as he scratched at a spot under his chin. "My name is Chaos but I suppose it's more of a macho thing than anything else." A smile came across his muzzle as if to add truth to his words. He honestly didn't expect her to believe him but was she interested enough in the rest of his words to stick around? Time to find out.

"You seem well fit Anastasia, if you don't mind me being so bold to say so, have you been on the streets long? I don't remember seeing you before and I consider myself an intense watcher of other dogs." Maybe that came across as a bit freaky and enough to cause the female to run. If she did then his mind was made up, he would chase her down and attempt to force her into being one of his "pups of the evening". If she was at least curious enough to listen more than either she was a good future business associate and pack mate, or she was as mentally damaged as he was.

Anastasia couldn't help but for a small sliver of a thought to cross her mind. What if this male's only goal was to forcebreed her? She couldn't help but to be disgusted at the thought. She had already had a life of that. She didn't need another experience. However, unlike most dogs, if it did come to being forcebred, Anastasia would not run, she would not yell, and she would stand her ground. And afterwards, when the pups came, she would raise them as her own, with no penalities to the pups. For this, was how she had been trained, and this is how she would stay. It was simply, she felt, her duty. She felt no femme should ever willingly abandon her pups. She had had far too many pups taken away for that to be an option.

At his words, Anastasia felt her self blush, but just a little. She was not used to such flattery from males. And at his words of his name, she nodded, but wasn't quite sure if that was the whole truth. To live on the streets was tough, and especially if this male had such a limp, he must be quite a target. To survive, he would have to do alot. She had a slight feeling that chaos wasn't merely a 'macho thing'.

At his next words, Anastasia paused for a second before responding. She didn't mind his saying, and she had a feeling someone would figure that she wasn't street born and rasied. "No, I haven't been here for long. I used to be domestic, in a way." She decided not to go into her full history just yet. Her being in a puppy mill was not something that everyone needed to know. Or at least, not yet.
